So a Humboldt judge and court insiders don't want a public trial in which they are defendants, what are they afraid of if they think there is no case?

(Kreis on the left, Kalin on the right on the boat mentioned in the lawsuit)

A jury trial in an open courtroom is okay for you regular folks but his highness aka Humboldt Presiding Judge Gregory Kreis and his current buddies and former associates from the Public Defender office don't think it is necessary to have a trial in about a lawsuit where they are defendants that could bring down the Humboldt County and Court House of Cards.

Keeping up with dates constantly being changed or added in former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin's lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Kreis, current Humboldt Public Defender Luke Brownfield, former Public Defender Marek Reavis and the County of Humboldt is a full time job. Civil cases have a lot of that happening and flurry of lengthy documents but in this case the County lawyers and Kreis' lawyer keep repeating points ad nauseam.

Since my last post, there is now a hearing on 10/6 on Kalin's  medical examination, the previously scheduled motion hearing to compel answers to interrogatories and CMC on 10/13 and a hearing added on 12/18 for motion hearing summary judgement and a jury trial for 1/8/24.

California Courts website: In a summary judgment, one party may contend there are no facts that need to be decided, or the parties may agree on what the facts are. Either side (and sometimes both sides) may bring a motion for summary judgment arguing that they are entitled to a judgment in their favor without a trial.

I have added Mendocino Judge Ann Moorman's order about the exams and other documents by the County defendants regarding the motion for summary judgement for those who wish to read them.

As I have said in previous coverage, I am not Kalin's lawyer nor am I saying I believe him a 100%. Kalin has made some allegations and claims and he should have to prove them in court. The defendants are the only ones wanting this to go away and constantly whining about media coverage.

But I have seen him in court and I dont believe everything in these declarations, especially from the defendants who are all in a clique, have a lot to use or County insiders. I know all the players and the dynamics at the County and courts and so does the public. Why are the defendants so scared to go to trial? One of the reasons is what I have mentioned before that they dont want more information out to the public. Kalin's medical exams must not have gone the way Kreis, Brownfield, Reavis and the County wanted if they are trying so hard to prevent Kalin from getting the data from the exams and wanting to avoid a trial.

If arguing with Judges over unimportant isues, being rude is a criteria being applied to Kalin, there are quite a few Deputy Public Defenders and Deputy Conflict Counsels who should be let go immediately.
