Red Lion maintenance notifies EPD after dead man found in Uhaul truck

 

Red Lion hotel maintenance found a dead body in a Uhaul truck behind the hotel. This was about 9 a.m according to a reader of mine who lives in the area. The reader told me, "I didn't recognize him. Some twentysomething white guy with brown hair and tattoos on his torso, he was still warm when they found him."

Despite this being a holiday, I want to thank Eureka Police Chief Todd Jarvis for looking into this and a prompt response. "At 0844, RP reported a man down in a uhaul truck.Officers arrived at 0846. CPR was started immediately. Two doses of Narcan were administered with no effect. Medical arrived on scene and took over CPR. Subject was declared deceased at the scene.Coroner responded. No suspicious circumstances at this time.  Victim is a male-36, Transient. Prior OD on 9-3-23 (1434 hours) at 5th and G Streets."

Lot of abandoned cars park behind that hotel and all along 3rd Street from V to the Target parking lot. I have often called EPD when a car is in the same spot to do a welfare check.
