Thank you Kym, the Daily Wire and local Sisters chapter both handled this badly

When I reported on the arrest of Clinton Ellis-Gilmore in August, I asked the local chapter of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to send me a statement. If they wished. They did not and that was a choice they made. Since I reported on Gilmore's arrest in August, he has changed his profile and mysteriously any references and photos about the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence from his Facebook page have disappeared. That is why screenshots and documentation is important.

After the Daily Wire mysteriously heard and ran the story a month later, the local Sisters chapter issued a statement which was not sent to me. You can read it at Kym's site.

Earlier this week, I also called out the Daily Wire for incorrectly reporting that the Lost Coast Populist was the only one to report on Gilmore's arrest. LCP linked me in their original post but after that it seems people are promoting LCP and using content from my post on various online forums without proper credit. I don't agree with why LCP chose to report on this or their views on the LGBTQ community but at least in the initial post, LCP gave credit that I was the only one and the first one to report on Gilmore's arrest.

As usual anons on Humboldt craigslist, Reddit and online comment sections are spouting off behind a screen, where no one knows their identity and biases and making this about LCP and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence instead of the fact that Gilmore who hangs out in well connected circles got arrested for indecent exposure. As I mentioned in my original post, this is about the alleged crime.

Gilmore being a member of the LGBTQ community does not give him a pass nor does the fact that he and his hubby hang out at the Elks Lodge because unlike some other defendants charged with the same crime, Gilmore has the resources and connections to fight this alleged charge and will most likely face no consequences even if the charge results in a plea or conviction.  I don't see any of these anons defending others arrested for indecent exposure. Gilmore provided the fodder for those who will use his arrest for their anti LGBTQ views and the price is being paid by law abiding members of the LGBTQ community. As usual, the anon keyboard warriors of Humboldt misdirect their anger.  

Kym's kindness, professionalism, the information and service she provides to Humboldt is valuable. 

As for the actions of the Daily Wire and local Sisters chapter; two very different groups; both have chosen to be petty and unprofessional. The local Sisters whiny statement claims Gilmore was not a member of their group at the time of the arrest but was considered for membership at one point. Why didn't the chapter issue that information after my August 13 post? I asked them to send me a statement. Whether he was a probationary member or not, it took a national attention for the local Sisters chapter to issue a defensive statement. My original post already clarified that Gilmore's alleged crime is the issue not that he is a member of any group. Instead of berating the press and patting themselves on the back, why didn't the Sisters include in their statement that in general the alleged crime of indecent exposure is reprehensible. It does not have to be Gilmore case specific. I know a few of the Sisters, including one long time member, who may or may not attend the local Catholic Church anymore. That member is someone I have not seen or spoken to for years.

Daily Wire, having a fancy site and funders does not make you legit or a journalist. The quality of your work does. A real reporter researches, gives proper credit and does not rip off someone else's hard work.

Waka Waka, I appreciate your reading various new sources and the comment. Most locals read one or two sources and jump to inaccurate conclusions and ask questions which would be unneccesary if they read other coverage where information is provided. They are the same people who just want to comment often on unrelated topics, go off on tangents and have no interest in information. 

9/27: Two weeks since I called the Daily Wire out on their inaccuracy. Lost Coast Populist even asked them to correct their mistake.  They haven't.
