Victim in Stardust motel stabbing is on a ventilator

(Seward)

"I know you occasionally cover stories not in Humboldt, but my cousin who is originally from Mckinleyville and now lives in Redding, was stabbed in the neck by some tweaker (I believe he has a record too), unprovoked (according to his friends he was with) and is now on a ventilator fighting for his life. There was a cop nearby and because of his quick actions, was able to get him help and caught the suspect."

The victim's cousin sent me this message. The official press release from the Redding police department does not mention any previous record for the suspect or details of the attack.

There is a record for Eric Michael Seward online and I will check to see if I can verify if it is the same person.

The Redding police press release has not released the victim's name.
