So far from EPD investigation "it appears this was a targeted incident; however, it is not known if the suspects intended on shooting the female "

On November 26, 2020, at about 10:26 p.m., officers with The Eureka Police Department responded to a gas station at the 1500 block of 5th Street for the report of a shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 36-year-old female with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.  Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance responded and transported the female to the hospital.

Based on witness statements, it appears that three male suspects started an altercation with the female victim while she was outside of her parked vehicle.  The three males then jumped into a silver sedan.  While fleeing the scene, one of the males fired one round from a firearm, striking the female in the leg.

The three male suspects were described as being in their late teens to early twenties and were in a silver, newer model, four door sedan, with a dent on the rear passenger side panel.

This is an active and evolving investigation. Based on the information available at this stage in the investigation, it appears this was a targeted incident; however, it is not known if the suspects intended on shooting the female.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Terry Liles at (707) 441-4010 or tliles@ci.eureka.ca.gov
