California inmates raised $30,000 to help a student they met through a reading program

California's Soledad State Prison inmates raised $30,000 to create a scholarship to help a student they met through a reading program.

Some donated theie entire monthly paycheck;  others sold possessions and food.

Sy Green was struggling to pay the $1,200 monthly tuition after both his parents suffered medical emergencies. Now he will graduate and be able to attend college in San Francisco.
