Claims of being drugged by meth being blown in his face and neighbor drama come out during Matthew Ramsey preliminary hearing

Preliminary hearing for attempted murder suspect Matthew Ramsey was continued to today. Alleged victim is Joshua Spaulding.

Matthew Ramsey was held to answer on all charges. Arraignment on July 26.

Count 1 is attempted murder with a special allegation that a firearm was used in the commission of the crime resulting in great bodily injury or death.

Arcata Police Detective Luke Scown testified.

Video played in court was from the dashcam of the red pick up that the Ramsey family fled in after the alleged shooting. That video showed the alleged victim on the ground.

Matthew Ramsey was heard yelling,"Don't talk to my dad like that!"

The shots were fired after an argument between the Ramsey's and the Spauldings earlier that day. Information was given to Det. Scown from various parties, including a neighbor, Mr. Sprowl, who heard the argument through his living room wall  and from Matthew Ramsey and his father Ron Ramsey. Det. Scown did not verify the alleged feelings of threats or any specific threats against Ron Ramsey.

Prior to shots being fired,Ron Ramsey had called APD about a disturbance.

There were also claims by Matthew Ramsey that his neighbors had drugged him with meth for years by blowing fumes in his face. No test was conducted to confirm this claim. When the red pickup was stopped, Matthew Ramsey had no shirt on. His brother Benjamin Ramsey and his father Ron Ramsey were also in the truck.

Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter presided over the preliminary hearing. Deputy District Attorney A.J. Kamada was for the prosecutor for the preliminary hearing. Mr. Russ Clanton is Ramsey's attorney.
