Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees requested no bail for homicide suspect Jason Barnes and it was granted by Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter.
Barnes got a haircut and a shave and looks different than his booking photo. Ben Bertain's parents were in court. His father stared at Barnes, pointing him out to his wife. Ben Bertain's mother wiped tears.
Time was not waived at this point, after talking with Barnes, Deputy Public Defender Brie Bennett said that might be a possibility. His other cases will "trail" this case.
Intervention is scheduled for July 25; preliminary hearing for July 29.
