Katherine Zacevich had an OR/Bail hearing scheduled on July 17. This is an alleged violation of parole as a result of her most recent arrest. The OR/Bail hearing being on calendar had it's own story from yesterday. End result was Zacevich was being held on no bail, a status reaffirmed by Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter.
Today, Zacevich admitted to the parole violation but not before some theatrics. She bounced into the courtroom laughing. Ironically, she was escorted by HCSO Sgt. Greg Allen, who found her on the PG and E property and had to arrest her after a struggle.
That tussle resulted in a battery charge being filed against her. I have linked the post that contains testimony from the preliminary hearing in that case.
While waiting for her case to be called, Zacevich nodded and smiled in my direction.
Deputy District Attorney Tobias Hasler and Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell were able to reach a resolution. Zacevich was sentenced to 120 days in jail. She waived 70 days of credits "for all purposes." She received 6 actual days credit for this recent arrest.
When Judge Carter instructed her to report to probation after release, Zacevich quipped, " Yeah, I usually go right there on H street."
Zacevich is disputing the amount of restitution. A review date to address that was scheduled for August 7. Will this time in jail be the end of arrests, bench warrants and failures to appear? Time will tell.
Last year, when Zacevich pulled one of her MIA for court, Deputy Conflict Counsel Hugh Gallagher told Judge Dale Reinholtsen, "I have nothing to say your honor. She is not a morning person."
