Despite previous decision by Judge Feeney, a proposed placement for Joshua Cooley in Garberville is now an option

I was the first one to report on this placement and I covered every single hearing until Judge John Feeney ordered a Tehama County placement be found. The rest of the media attended one hearing held in the Board of Supervisors Chamber, then covered nothing.

 The case is confidential  there are no minutes and there is exclusive and extensive coverage on this blog. Once I stopped going to the hearings, once again the family and defense used it as an opportunity to try and get Joshua Cooley back in Humboldt.

The DA did not release information last time until my first post. The DA should have informed the community of this change. Kudos to HCSO for watching out for the public.

The Freshwater community did a great job keeping this sexually violent predator out of the community. Will Garberville organize and do the same?

The California Department of State Hospitals has proposed a new address for the placement of Sexually Violent Predator Joshua Cooley in Humboldt County.

The proposed placement has been identified as a residence on the 2800 block of Alderpoint Road in Garberville. At an upcoming hearing on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. in Humboldt County Superior Court #1, the Honorable Judge Feeney will decide whether to authorize the proposed placement.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office will strongly oppose the placement due to the significant risk to the public.

Humboldt County Superior Court has asked all letters go only to the District Attorney’s Office at districtattorney@co.humboldt.ca.us or mailed to 825 5th St, Eureka, CA 95501 in regards to Sexually Violent Predator Joshua Cooley’s placement. Please do not send letters directly to the Judge Feeney.
