It was the North Coast Journal's Thad Greenson that claimed there was "unequivocal physical evidence" in the Lawson case

The same Thad Greenson who printed incorrect information about what jurors were told in the Gary Lee Bullock jury trial. A case that he covered once; for minutes.

There has been a lot of misinformation about the Josiah Lawson case and it isn't just certain media. It has been from activists and it has also been from Charmaine Lawson herself.

What Charmaine Lawson says or feels is not evidence. It is sloppy and irresponsible reporting and those who give her that platform and muddy real facts.

Instead of putting in the hard work to sit in court or do investigative reporting, some sit behind a desk and pass off a phone call or an email regularly as " reporting news."

There is a reason why Charmaine Lawson only talks to certain media. Errors by certain media on a regular basis, not just in the Lawson case, are overlooked by certain locals for political and personal reasons. This is by  people on the left and the right.

This community is already polarized for many reasons. Making unfounded claims of racism in a case because you cannot deal with facts is hate mongering, divisive and unfair to Humboldt.

Instead of fueling racism for two years, Charmaine Lawson should have asked Renalyn Bobadilla why she created drama that led to a fight that led the death of Charmaine Lawson's son. Now that APD released images, it isnt good enough. Nothing is ever good enough for Charmaine Lawson or the full time activists that harass, demean and bully anyone trying to point out facts.

The State Attorney's General cannot manufacture evidence. People that should have come forward two years ago and not left the scene and those that chanted, "Fuck the Police" get a pass from Charmaine Lawson. Why?

From day one, there has been a circus surrounding this case. Protests and allegations instead of allowing this case to be handled like any other case through the judicial system.

There have been more resources spent on this case by the DA and law enforcement because of the constant drama, protests and misinformation.

Other people lost loved ones too; their lives matter. Instead of another press release, protest or TV appearance , all those complaining about this case can help identify and track down people from that night and ask them why they fled a crime scene?

  3. John - I have not been impressed with the North Coast Journal ever since the decided to out all of the law abiding Humboldt County residents that have a concealed weapon license by using their names to make an image of a handgun for the cover image of their not suitable for wrapping fish or lining a bird cage magazine in October 2008. I found my name in the graphic image 3 times in their sensationalism graphic artwork.

Hank Sims the editor of the North Coast Journal at the time tried to rationalize their actions, on the premise of the use of public information for free speech. The North Coast Journal will happily release sensitive information of law abiding citizens, yet they seem to hide or make up information of those who break the law!

This is from the comments section of that article concerning the NCJ Privacy Policy!

Did the "author" or "editor" happen to read the NCJ "Privacy Policy"?? Let me post it here for them: "North Coast Journal Inc. respects your privacy. Our complete privacy policy is below, but the bottom line is this: North Coast Journal Inc. will not sell or share any of your personal information to a third party, period. North Coast Journal Inc. will gather personally identifiable information about you only when you provide it voluntarily for specific purposes such as posting an ad or signing up to blog with us." Strangely enough, I don't remember getting a phone call/letter/contact asking me personally about my personal information. Hmmmm. Policies are flexible at NCJ apparently? Special.

  5. Thank you for having the courage to say what needs to be said. Charmaine Lawson is a grieving mother and we all emphasize with her. With that said, a grieving family member is not an expert in forensics or investigation. The continual push by Ms. Lawson to create racial divide over her son’s death is counterproductive and has became an unnecessary and vindictive agenda.
