$150,000 damage to home on the 3400 block of Edgewood Road


On March 31st, 2019 at 3:01P.M. Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a fire in a home on the 3400 Block of Edgewood Road with four fire engines, one fire truck, two chief officers, one Public Information Officer, and two Fire Support personnel.

Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire involvement of the home, coming from the front and rear of the building as well as pushing through the roof. Humboldt Bay Fire crews were able to start an offensive attack, and protect exposures to the rear of the home including surrounding homes. 

Searches of the home revealed that no occupants were home at the time of the fire.  Humboldt Bay Fire requested a 2nd alarm and additional engines, receiving aid from Arcata Fire District on scene and gained control of the fire within 10 minutes of arrival.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.  Damage is estimated to be $150,000   There were no civilian or firefighter injuries to report.
