"Did Fortuna Police Department read you your rights?" Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo asked Steve Shapiro on cross examination.
"Nobody has read me my rights," responded Shapiro.
Shapiro was in Oregon at work, he contacted Fortuna Police Department, spoke to them in his car. This is the second time Fortuna Police Department contacted him.
"After that you willingly came down and spoke to the DA?", said Mr. Russo.
Mr. Russo asked Shapiro if he felt pressure during his conversations with law enforcement.
"Anything to do with this from anybody, I feel pressured," responded Shapiro. He characterized Goldberg as peaceful. "There were days he calmed me down," said Shapiro.
"If I remember correctly, he went to talk to the Mrs and Tim wasn't supposed to be there."
Shapiro said he had never seen any physical violence or aggression from Goldberg.
"I have never seen Mr. Goldberg this way before. I knew this was a catastrophe. My friend was so shaken that he had me shook."
Shapiro said that Goldberg was in disbelief "about the other guy doing what he did."
