"I personally picked this guy", Mike Downey kicks off Sheriff Honsal's re-election campaign

Former Sheriff Mike Downey introduced Sheriff William Honsal and spoke candidly about why he picked Billy  Honsal for the job.

Former Sheriff Downey  said that while there was experience within the Sheriff's Department, he went outside the Sheriff's office; "outside the norm", because he wanted someone younger and with a fresher look.

Sheriff Honsal said he loves the job. "This community is not defined by homelessness, alcohol or drug addiction." He thanked his family, the men and women who work for HCSO, and the Board of Supervisors.

DA Maggie Fleming, Supervisors Ryan Sundberg, Rex Bohn and Estelle Fennell, Mike Newman, Alex and Miranda Moore were some of the 100 plus people who turned out to support Sheriff Honsal.
