Lead detective on Tim Smith homicide case has experience with only one homicide, guess which one?

The first people's witness in the Jon Goldberg jury trial was Fortuna Police Department's Officer Ryan Richardson.
At the very beginning if his direct testimony, Officer Richardson confirmed a claim made by Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo.

Officer Richardson has only investigated one homicide. Mr. Russo said in his opening about that the lead detective appointed to this case was inexperienced.

Officer Richardson started testifying around 11 a.m. today and he was on the stand all afternoon being questioned by Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal.

Court testimony will resume at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow with Officer Richardson on the stand.

Officer Richardson testified at the preliminary hearing.

I am only going to post new information or significant information brought up during the jury trial if the witness has testified during the preliminary hearing.

The statements by Jessica Springer, Tim Smith Jr, and Frieda Smith is covered in detail in previous coverage and several posts. I have an entire post with pictures of the search warrant. There is a post containing all links to previous coverage.
