Officers at trailer park on Jacobs Avenue and officers near McDonalds

EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell sent me this response regarding the McDonald's case Monday morning:

"On February 25, 2018, at about 1:24 p.m., an officer with the Eureka Police Department attempted a traffic stop near West Avenue and 6th Streets.  The driver immediately fled from the officer but eventually yielded at the intersection of S and 3rd Streets.

The driver, Kenneth Hooper was taken into custody without further incident.  During the stop, a female claiming to be Hooper’s wife ran up and began interfering with officers.  Marissa Lawson AKA Hooper, was arrested for interfering with the investigation.

Kenneth Hooper was found to be on active PRCS and had a warrant for sales of controlled substances.  His vehicle was searched and officers located over 100 grams of methamphetamine was located.  He was arrested for evading and possession of methamphetamine for sales."

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges confirmed that HCSO assisted Eureka Police Department with a felony traffic stop at 3rd and S street around 1:30. It is an EPD case.ponse

According to Ms. Powell, "The incident on Jacobs was 5150 related.  The incident was resolved peacefully. "
