Once again a sitting judge has been defeated, this time with the right candidate, a great grassroots team, independent reporting and the power of the people

This text is from someone well respected and influential in the legal community, the political and business communities in Humboldt, California and nationally.

My phone was busy all evening yesterday and this morning. These texts are just one of many since the CJP report came out and people all over the state and country emailing and texting me. Several local and successful attorneys have also "thanked me for my service "

Kreis and the failure to hold him accountable by Humboldt Superior Court and the Humboldt Connected has cost many people including me money, our livelihood, our homes and health.

A message from yet another person who was impacted by Kreis and Humboldt Superior Court and the Connected.

"Hey John, congratulations on your hard work on getting Kreis out. Thank you for your pivotal effort in removing this tyrant. That’s ALL that matters. You are a hero in my mind and I’m grateful for you, John! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Job well done and this is the first step. Thank you for standing the tide of that corruption. I pray Humboldt appreciates the impact you have had."

Some in Humboldt and associated with Humboldt do appreciate me. For those who cannot bring themselves, even now, despite years of what I have done for this community to eke out thanks or give me credit, you don't matter. All the roadblocks you still throw at me do not matter. The Humboldt House of Cards was brought down by strong men and women. Kreis being removed is a victory that belongs to many. All of you who enabled Kreis and still do deserve to lose everything and all of you will experience karma for the lives you destroyed, your bullying and the impact on innocent children.

"Kreis is toast" and other sentiments  were texts I received.

To all those people who kept saying to me that a sitting judge has never been defeated; who almost endorsed a loser, who gave him money, your names are forever linked with the bufoon who made national headlines. To all those people who knew what was going on for years and stayed silent until a few days ago when there was no risk you don't get to claim you had anything to do with Kreis being ousted.

This victory belongs to those who took the risk and had the guts. As Ms. Van Dyke said last night, it belongs to those who believed from the beginning. This victory belongs to those who spoke up and contacted the CJP. And to those who exposed Kreis. I have covered Humboldt Superior Court and Kreis for years. I and others have waited years for the CJP to announce charges against him and to see Kreis topple.

The judge's race in this primary election shows that the good ole boys and gals can be defeated with the right candidate, a great grassroots team, independent reporting and the power of the people.

If you didn't follow the live election coverage last night, you should read my live coverage and photos from Humboldt Superior Court candidate April Van Dyke .get together which included a surprise guest, Brenda Elvine, Gregory Kreis' ex wife.

Amber Sawboh arrested by EPD for first degree residential burglary

Amber Dawn Sawboh was arrested today for for PC 459 burglary and PC 460(a) first degree residential burglary. According to reports, Sawboh forced entry into an apartment on 2nd Street and barricaded herself inside.

A Linkedin profile for Amber Sawboh states she is a student at College of the Redwoods. EPD PIO Laura Montagna said Amber Mcdavit is her legal name. Alias is Amber Sawboh.

McDavit has two cases that are duplicates in her Humboldt Superior Court search. She now has three 2024 cases. One filed in February 2024 and two for her March arrest.

"O'Shaughnessy broke in to a local attorney's home, who used to work with us. He was armed, kicked down the door, trying to get his wife, drunk as a skunk, had to be subdued, screamed he was going to kill people, hit someone with a pipe And this is a misdemeanor trespass? Really."

Two days ago, I did this post on the arrest of Curb Appeal Construction Owner  Blaine David OShaughnessy. He was arrested on March 2 by Eureka Police Department in Cutten and booked for felony PC 273 a (a) child endangerment and misdemeanor PC 602 (o)(1) trespass to closed lands. OShaughnessy posted bond.

In the March 3 post, I have details about O'Shaughnessy's local conservative connections including his two failed marriages and local court cases. Coast Central Credit Union had to sue him to get $2,500 plus $100 in court costs.

Michelle Costantine is one name you will recognize on Roy Gomez' 460

Is Joe Bobino a typo or is it failed conservative candidate Joe Bonino who is a donor to the Gomez campaign? Cynthia Olson, another name that certain people will recognize.

I have included the relevant excerpts from the 460  and you can compare for yourself what is stated on the FPPC filing to what Roy Gomez, Jessica Gomez and  Noah of Visual Concepts stated previously online. I have included two screenshots of what Noah said previously in comments to a February 26 2024 article on another site. According to that site, the comment was posted on February 28. The entire document is on the Humboldt elections website.

Gomez has Republican Chris Coulombe sign proudly displayed next to his at his dispensary on 5th street. Coulombe is one of the California's 2nd Congressional District candidates.

Man convicted of felony hit and run never showed up for jail date, probation has done nothing, no warrant and this guy was granted probation after he fled the crime scene

This is why Jose Guzman Jimenez should never have been granted probation after pleading guiltyto felony hit and run with injury. He is represented by Mr. Benjamin Okin, one of scandal ridden Judge Gregory Kreis' endorsers.

On 1/9/24 Jimenez was sentenced to 180 days in jail with credit for 4 days. Counts 2, 3, 4 dismissed by Retired Judge John Feeney. Commit to jail date was 2/10/24. Judge Feeney is the first name on Kreis' endorsement list. So who is soft on crime?

This is the guy who fled the crime scene. Remember when EPD responded to a report of a pedestrian in the roadwalk at 5th and K and there was no vehicle was at the scene.

I did not see Jimenez's name on the booking log for his commit to jail date. I checked with jail staff and was told the last time he was in the system was 2023. Nothing filed in e court, checked 2/16/24, checked 2/17/24 and just checked today.  Checked HCSO warrant list last updated 2/14/24 which is cumbersome to search through. No warrant. No petition for probation. I took a screenshot today of his case in e court and the last document filed was by Probation on 1/23/24.

Man arrested for stalking is the same person many believe last saw Danielle Bertolini and Sheila Franks alive

February 2024 marks 10 years in the disappearance of  Danielle Bertolini and Sheila Franks who both disappeared within one week in Humboldt.

HCSO just issued a press release on James Jones' arrest. Lisa Music wrote aboit this arrest earlier today on Redheaded Blackbelt reminding viewers that there are many reports that Jones was the last person to see both women alive.

Paul Casanas arrested yesterday by EPD for driving under the influence of drugs has a previous conviction for drugs and unlawful sex with a minor

Yesterday, Eureka Police Department arrested 57 year old Paul Casanas VC23152(f) driving under the influence of drugs and VC 14601.2(a) driving with a suspended license due to a DUI offense. He was released on O.R.

Based on the booking photo, charges and time of arrest, I have contacted EPD. EPD PIO Laura Montagna confirmed this is the suspect in the Family Nails and Spa incident.

Casanas was convicted by a jury in 2005 A jury convicted defendant of three counts of furnishing a minor with a controlled substance in violation of Health and Safety Code section 11380, subdivision (a), and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in violation of Penal Code section 261.5, subdivision (c).  Meth and marijuana was found in his pants when he was arrested. In 2007, he lost an appeal in this case.

You can read the details of the case and the ruling by the First District California Court of Appeal by going to https://casetext.com/case/people-v-casanas-3 The dob in this case matches the 2024 arrest.

A search for Casanas brings up 15 searches in Humboldt Superior Court.

Curb Appeal Construction owner Blaine OShaughnessy arrested for child endangerment and trespass

38 year old Blaine David OShaughnessy, owner of Curb Appeal Construction was arrested yesterday by Eureka Police Department for felony PC 273 a (a) child endangerment and misdemeanor PC 602 (o)(1) trespass to closed lands. He posted bond. OShaughnessy was arrested in Cutten.

Let's see whether charges are filed and if they are, will OShaughnessy get the Humboldt Connected special like Trevor Bohn, Rick Littlefield and Marci Kitchen?

When I first met OShaughnessy in 2012, he was trying to start a young Republicans group with Darus Trutna of former HumboldtRPM. Trutna is  now operating the local Rentor with some former HumboldtRPM employees after settling a breach of contract lawsuit with Real Property Management SPV. Despite support from the late Peter Hannaford and other  conservatives that group fizzled and went nowhere. I wrote about that before so will add those links and update some information.

In 2022, I wrote about O'Shaughnessy being the registered agent for Humboldt Freedom Coalition. That website when I checked it in 2022 had posts by Donnie Creekmore who now operates Lost Coast Populist.

In addition to two failed marriages, Coast Central Credit Union had to sue him to get $2,500 plus $100 in court costs.

Malfunctioning lithium ion battery or charger causes $2,000 worth of damage at Clark street warehouse

On 03/02/2024 @ approximately 1205hrs, Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a fire alarm at the 600 block of West Clark Street in Eureka. HBF’s truck arrived to find a single story warehouse and office building with an audible fire alarm sounding. The truck crew made entry into the structure finding a moderate amount of smoke and requested a full structure fire response.

EPD investigating Custom Tile truck fire as arson and hate crime

On Thursday, Feb 20, 2024 at approximately 2:15 am,  Eureka Police Department Officers responded to a call of a vehicle fire on the 200 block of Harris Ave.  Humboldt Bay Fire also responded and extinguished the fire.

Twice today, EPD has responded to 6th and G

EPD was already at 6th and G once near the Wells  Eureka parking lot. Just two minutes ago, I saw EPD Officer Andrew Endsley on the other side of 6th and G pull into the parking lot near the Eureka Chamber of Commerce office. Looks like a probation search. Officer Endsley was "calling in" the incident as I left.

If you have not voted yet, read these rules about California primary elections and who is eligible for the general election for the BOS and judge positions

You can go to the SOS and read the rules for all offices but there are exceptions. Dont know if rules are different for the judge race or the supervisors.

I checked  with our Clerk Recorder, Registrar of Voters Juan Cervantes. Unlike the SOS site, the Humboldt election site is more user friendly, helpful and the staff is more accessible. Mr. Cervantes is going to see if he can put this Voter's Guide on the Humboldt election website and social media platform.

As of this morning, the Humboldt elections office has received 14,693 ballots out of 83,019 registered Humboldt County voters.

I have added the election office press release issued at 2:07 p.m. today to the post which gives information on when election night reports will be released updates and the process of counting votes.
