Humboldt County's request for preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order against former Deputy County Counsel Cathie Childs was denied by Judge Timothy Canning. After that loss, the County got told again, in a motion filed July 28 by Mr. Dustin Owens, specially appearing for Child's attorney Cyndy Day Wilson. As I reported previously, Mr. Owens appeared at the 6/2 hearing and may get hired by Childs. From the court minutes, it seems Judge Gregory Kreis has decided to assign this case to himself. Why?
The 8/4 hearing to quash summons was vacated. The 7/31 hearing on the preliminary injunction was continued to 8/25 by the court because no judge/no courtroom was available.
