Former court mediator and Velda Gooden filed a request for a civil harassment restraining order against local attorney Eddie Schrock. Both are pro per.
In February 2023, I reported Gooden had been let go by Humboldt Superior Court. Gooden left her job as a former Victim Witness Advocate and took over court mediation after former court mediator Joe Hale was arrested for criminal invasion of privacy. Gooden previously worked for DHHS as a Vocational Counselor.
All Humboldt Superior Court judges recused themselves. At today's hearing, Del Norte Superior Court Judge Donald McElfresh continued the matter to 5/18 for proper service.

I have attached the court minutes for today. Eddie had to be told by Judge McElfresh why he could not respond in open court if he was contesting service. Shouldn't he know that as a lawyer? With all her experience in court and now claiming she has a court assistance service, Gooden does not even know the basic rules of proof of service. Anyone can look it up on California courts or ask the court clerks. Why would anyone pay Gooden when she does not even know basic court procedures?
As for her allegations, just like the Humboldt Judge Gregory Kreis lawsuit, the Hale case, there is a lot more to why Gooden might have been let go. Just like Kreis, Hale, I know Eddie, I know Gooden. If Gooden can properly serve Eddie and if this even proceeds to a hearing, can't wait to see what information is revealed.
Gooden has filed three other civil harassment petitions.
