With nothing on calendar, local attorney claims charges against him will be dismissed

 

Local attorney Victor Campos' next court hearing for setting of his preliminary hearing for his criminal case is on 5/24. I have been adding updates on the motions and his case in the last post I did where he signed up for SWAP.

There is nothing in e court or on the calendar on for today in his criminal case but he is going around telling people the charges against him are being dismissed. He said that to other people two weeks ago, a week ago. At 80 years old, is he losing it? Should he even be allowed to practice law and represent people? If charges are dismissed,  he probably snitched on his co-defendant who I heard is his secretary's son.

5/24: Setting of preliminary hearing for both cases continued  again by stipulation to 7/13.

7/13: Preliminary for Campos and Cross scheduled for 10/5. 

7/27:  Motion for return of property was amended and filed by PD on 7/13 but did not appear in e court when I checked the system on 7/13. That was continued to 8/16 by Court. People object to motion. People will obtain information from Special Master for confirmation of extraction. Preliminary hearing still scheduled for 10/5.

8/16: Motion return of property denied by Retired Judge John Feeney, Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers appeared on the case for the People. Deputy Public Defender David Nims is Campos' attorney. Preliminary hearing on 10/5.

10/5  Campos and Cross preliminary hearing continued by Judge Joyce Hinrichs to 12/6 due to  courtroom unavailability after Deputy Public Defender David Nims disqualifies Judge Kaleb Cockrum and Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris disqualifies Judge Kelly Neel.

12/6: Campos and Cross' preliminary hearing continued again to 1/8/24 because no courtroom was available.
