Career criminal with 43 cases lies to the court, gets exposed with facts, doesn't deserve the attorney he has or the plea he was offered by the DA

There is no rehabilitating a career criminal who is unrepentant, lies, refuses to take responsibility or change.

Tavin Evans has 43 cases in the Humboldt Superior Court system. Yesterday at trial assignment for his latest arrest and case, he threw a hissy fit in court, wasted time avoiding the inevitable, was rude, disrespectful to the court, his own attorney and the prosecutor. Evans tried to lie in court to the Judge, disparage his own attorney who he does not deserve. The problem he had is court records and documentation disputed every lie and when confronted with those facts, all he did was dig a deeper hole.

The taxpayers are footing the bill for you Tavin and you have cost the public for years so drop the attitude and be grateful that you were given yet another chance at a plea.

As a career criminal, Evan knows how to work the system. He screwed up his plea more than once and has no one else to blame but if he is convicted in the latest case and sent to prison for life.

Evans was arrested in January by HCSO for PC 667(b)-(i) three strikes enhancement, PC273.5 (a) corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant, PC 236 false imprisonment , PC 211 robbery and HS11377(a) possession of a controlled substance.

I have listed the charges and complaint for the 2023 case. Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Evan's court appointed attorney. Deputy District Attorney Emily Norgaard is the prosecutor for this case. Evans has various aliases and a criminal protective order in this 2023 case. He had both a Humphrey's motion and a Marsden motion denied. Instead of life, the DA agreed to dismiss multiple strikes, gave him one last chance for several plea deals. Ms. Sullivan explained to him with Prop 57, he could be out in as little as 4 years. This ungrateful twit held two courtroom hostage because he cannot face reality. Meanwhile other defendants had to wait their turn.

The case was initially called in Courtroom 5 with Judge Joyce Hinrichs. Ms. Sullivan told Judge Hinrichs that it maybe helpful if a Judge explained the predicament he is to Evans. She had tried several times unsuccessfully to Evans the risks of going to trial, the evidence the prosecution had which had no defense and why he should consider a plea. The case was sent over to Judge Cockrum who went over in length the options Evans had.

In November 2022, I covered Evan's arrest live by Eureka Police Department. That arrest was an assist for Arcata Police Department. Evans was booked in November for PC 236, PC 273.5 (a) and PC 211. Evans posted bail after that arrest.

The 2023 case is on calendar to be assigned a Courtroom on 5/1.

**I went back and checked e court for a new case filed against Evans and noticed there were 47 cases. So, I took a closer look. There are several duplicates listed. Humboldt Superior Court has been informed of this error multiple times. It is very difficult to get access to two public computers due to the demand and often I have a few minutes to check several cases. Evans still has 16 cases which are a lot for his age.
