Hillary Deskins arrested by HCSO yesterday for PC 496(a) receiving stolen property, HS 11364 possession of drug paraphernalia and HS 11377(a) possession of a controlled substance. This is her fourth arrest in 8 months. Released on O.R. again. She already has a court date for May 3 from previous arrests and failure to appear in court.
5/3: Once again, Deskins failed to appear for court. A bench warrant was issued for $25,000 and held until arraignment which was continued to 5/15.
5/15: Failure to appear; bench warrant issued for $25,000. Booked on the warrant on 5/18. This is her fifth arrest.
7/6: Deskins failed to appear for court, again, bench warrants were issued. She has 3 failures to appear in one case and 5 failures to appear in her second 2023 case.
7/8: Deskins was arrested by EPD. This time she has not been released.
7/11: In CR 2301294, 3 failures to appear in this case arraigned on 7/11, Public Defender appointed, bail $5,000. OR bail on 7/13; pre trial on 7/20.. In CR 2300063 5 failures to appear in this case, arraigned on 7/11, Public Defender appointed, bail is $25,000. OR/bail on 7/13; Preliminary hearing on 7/20.
7/13: Supervised release granted by Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter. PD declares conflict so Conflict Counsel appointed. Deskins has bed at Dale Wards treatment facility. 7/20 pre trial and preliminary hearing continued to 8/9.
8/9: Pre trial and preliminary hearing continued to 9/28.
9/28: Pre trial and preliminary hearing continued by defense to 12/5.
12/5: Once again, Deskins failed to appear, bench warrant issued by Judge Steven Steward for $5,000 in CR 2301294; $25,000 in CR 2300063. If she is released again & this cycle repeats, I am not covering her case or every hearing unless there is a plea, preliminary hearing, trial, conviction or acquittal.
2/22/24: Since failure to appear and bench warrant had been issued in both cases, this was first and only court date for a motion hearing to enter plea and withdraw warrants. CR2301294 Case dismissed. CR2300063 plea entered, sentenced to 1 year probation, stay away from J & M Body Towing, 33 days in jail with credit for time served.
