Lonyx Landry was appointed by Fourth District Supervisor Natalie Arroyo to the Planning Commission this year.
At the April 6 meeting approximately 36 minutes into the meeting, Humboldt Building and Planning Director John Ford tells Commissioner Landryx that he needs to disclose "private communication provided to you that has not been provided to the rest of the Commission or staff and that has completely caught us off guard."
At today's meeting's meeting there is an agenda item on ex parte disclosures and public records.
What prompted this agenda item? Has Supervisor Arroyo communicated to her appointee on the Planning Commission that appearances and transparency are important? Was she aware of Commissioner Landryx ex parte communications?
Before the Myers and Aquarian and Humboldt Kingz, LLC items were discussed this evening, Planning Commission Chair and Third District Commissioner Noah Levy asked if any Commissioner had any ex parte communications to disclose.
No response.
Second District Commissioner Thomas Mulder, "Are we not divulging ex parte because emails are a part of public record?" He brought up the last meeting.
Commissioner Levy then mentions Commissioner Landryx, the last meeting and that the documentation and emails are available now.
Commissioner Landryx finally responded,"I communicated with the Department of Fish and Wildlife and will in the future." He added, "I will let parties know."
Commissioner Levy said, "at the end of the meeting we will discuss that process."
Video is available for both meetings online. The documents attached to the end of the agenda are detailed and online for anyone to read.
Here are two of the emails from Commissioner Landryx to Scott Bauer and one other person at F & G Wildlife and Supervisor and Supervisor Arroyo was cced. Bauer is currently on the Eureka City Council.
Fifth District Planning Commisioner Peggy O'Neill was not present today.
I do not usually cover planning commission and Board of Supervisor meetings and if I do, I don't leave out relevant information that matters to the public. Did you see any coverage of the April 6 remark in Times Standard, Lost Coast Outpost or North Coast Journal? They may cover it now since they always follow up and react but will they ask the tough questions. I doubt it.
I have called out John Ford, Rex Bohn, Michelle Bushnell, Alan Bongio and Travis Schneider just as I have Steve Madrone, Natalie Arroyo and many others at great personal and financial risk. Call people out regardless of their political, economic or any other affiliations; I do.
The "media" I mentioned and certain people were all over the Bongio, Schneider brouhaha. Let's see if there is any outrage or coverage of these ex parte communications.
LOCO, NCJ and TS attack and cover specific people but they consistently ignore certain elected officials, businesses and news. I don't do selective coverage depending on who you are. I don't fake virtue like these "media"and have covered relevant news about local tribes, women, people in power these lifelong "media" have ignored.
If these publications are not tools and apologists, then I dare them to 1. Ask Supervisor Arroyo and Commissioner Landryx why Director Ford had to raise this issue at the April 6 meeting and why it had to be raised again today? 2. Does Supervisor Arroyo think Commisioner Landry was defensive or short in his response to Commissioners Levy and Mulder today? 3. Was Supervisor Arroyo privately reprimanded about this lapse by her appointee in not disclosing private communication?
The fourth question is not related to the Planning Commission but it is about disclosure and transparency. I dare these other "media" to ask Fifth District Supervisor Steve Madrone who took a raise (after saying he would not) and if he folowed through and donated that raise to IHSS workers.
Maybe LOCO could do some more useless tea interviews weeks with nothing burger questions and follow up weeks later about Greene Lily taking over the Oberon Grill location. I wrote about weeks ago. LOCO consistently rips off news KAEF, Kym and I report but only gives selective credit to their NCJ and TS buddies for non scoops. They all regurgitate the same press releases and cookie cutter content like CALMatters with no local relevance. Who told NCJ about the Travis Schneider removing the "controversial home"? If it was a real scoop, they would know that Travis has land in Colorado and was planning on building a home in Colorado and is moving to Tennessee. You don't need a Humboldt McMansion when you can just have homes in other states without the same regulations or scrutiny. This isn't some big deference by Travis to the tribes. LOCO, NCJ and TS have no clue about news in this community. Their small base of groupies looks the other way when convenient while they play both sides of the Humboldt cabal.
LOCO uses their dwindling anonymous commenters (their own staff and moderator and mostly insiders with an agenda in politics, businesses, non profits, law enforcement, government who are threatened by actual reporting) to smear, attack and silence other local independent media coverage. No one knows who these people are. They certainly do not have the trust of the community.
The most comments LOCO got in months was because they attacked the Arkleys. What have LOCO and their "reporters" ever done that has benefitted this community? All they do is divide this community and are sycophants. LOCO hides behind their minority tribe ownership. Why are most of LOCO's employees still white and non native?
