Defense requests continuance for alleged molestor's preliminary hearing

 


Alleged molestor Sebastion Hockett is charged with sexual assault of a minor under 10 years old PC 288.7(b), sexual assault of an unconscious victim PC 289 (d)(1) and sexual exploitation of a child (PC 311.3(a). The complaint does not indicate gender of the child. 

Hockett is on a no bail status. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for today but a motion to continue by the Public Defender was granted. It was rescheduled to 5/8.

5/8: Defense motion to continue granted. No objection by the People. Preliminary rescheduled for 6/26.

6/26: E court lists Public Defender filed motion to continue on 6/22. The court minutes list People requested motion to continue. Based on the fact that every continuance has been by the defense and that the document was filed by the Public Defender, most likely People did not object. Motion to continue was granted. Setting of preliminary is on 7/26.


7/26: Preliminary scheduled for 10/19. 1 day time estimate.

10/19: Preliminary hearing continued by defense. Setting of preliminary hearing scheduled for 12/6.

12/6: Preliminary hearing scheduled for 2/6/24.

2/6/24: Preliminary hearing continued by stipulation to 4/2 due to new discovery. 6 hour time estimate.

4/2: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 5/28; no objection by the People.
