Does anyone seriously believe Michelle Bushnell will be censured Tuesday?

 

Despite a sustained finding that Second District Supervisor Michelle Bushnell violated the Code of Conduct, nothing will happen to her. No one is really held accountable at the den of evil aka the Humboldt Courthouse. This charade on Tuesday is all for appearance's sake and to avoid potential litigation.

Bushnell will do some mea culpa and swore that she learned her lesson. I believe criminals in court who say this is the last time and they have changed more than I do Bushnell, a Humboldt politician who knows the other 4 Supervisors have her back and so do the County department heads. For those sarcasm challenged, I don't believe the repeat offenders.

Rex Bohn will defend his friend Michelle just like he defended his friend blowhard Bongio and ask if we should overlook Bushnell's years of service to the community. What would those contributions be Rex? Growing dope, selling cattle and parlaying that into another Humboldt business? 

It would be great Rex if we could all have three, four sources of income like your friends who have your favor and do business the Humboldt way. Some of us  actually prefer to do business the way it is done everywhere else but Humboldt. Heck, one business in Humboldt and to be allowed to do it without tortious interference would be great. 

Is there anyone at that Courthouse in prominent positions who is independent of a connection to you Rex and the good ole boys? Does anyone in Humboldt have the guts to speak up against you?  Maybe you could give Jim Glover a third position? 

Virginia Bass will wring her hands and say the blandest stuff not wanting to offend anyone but ultimately deciding that she cannot judge or rebuke a fellow Supervisor who just had a bad day. Virginia, anyone who knows you privately knows that you are no pushover. Two months left in your term. Do you have the guts to vote once for decency and not your future political and self centered aspirations?

Mike Wilson and Steve Madrone will thank staff and the investigator for their hard work and not have the guts to censure Bushnell. The remaining four know setting such a precedent means they could be the ones being scrutinized next time. Will the 3-2 BOS majority next year embolden people who are silent? I doubt it.

Donnie Creekmore, who seems to have replaced Kent Sawatzky as the repeat, annoying BOS commenter on several items on the agenda can sing his usual praises of how wonderful Bushnell is and have his anonymous Humboldt Freedom Coalition members and donors from givesendgo hi five him later. 

Maybe, we could elect Humboldt Supervisors who  have some class or can at least fake it like Ryan and Estelle did when they were in office. 

Maybe we could actually elect Supervisors like Jimmy Smith who matured into a decent elected official and who cared about the community. Ryan and Rex should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jimmy Smith. All these public appearances and auctions by Rex do not benefit everyone in Humboldt.

None of that will happen because too many people in Humboldt are fearful and the rest like the system the way it is because it benefits them.
