I received this in the mail today. I reached out and sent an email to Sheriff William Honsal and Humboldt County HR and cced HCSO PIO Samantha Karges, in case Sheriff Honsal choses to send his response via her.
If the County opens an uneccessary PRA again, any response from the County or HCSO will be delayed.
If this is a simple resignation; there is nothing more to it and Tomlin is just moving on to better opportunities, why the delay in response and why no response? This is the same bs the County pulled the last time.
10/12: Still no response from the County. Their silence speaks volumes. Tomlin just sent out a HCDTF press release.
Since this post, I received one email, "I am a longtime reader of your blog. I have appreciated the work you have done over the years with your journalism. I can say that he is being paid admirably to continue coaching at SB. I had learned several weeks ago that he had planned to leave the sheriff's office simply because he was earning a salary comparable to his pay with HCSO. Keep in mind, since he is employed by a private institution, his salary is not public record."
I received another email from my original tipster who provided me some specifics for follow up. I told the that I make no promises about what was sent and what I may publish in the future . For now, I have my reasons to hold onto that information, given the way the County's lack of transparency and response about Tomlin. Do deputies being investigated who aren't favored by Rexy Bohn and Billy Honsal get the Tomlin treatment?
The tipster gave me some information and then added a disclaimer about another paragraph stating that this was opinion.
"I would only add, purely as the opinion to which I am entitled, that I am not surprised by St. Bernards Catholic School's response to your inquiries. It seems quite consistent with the traditional tolerance of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church for St. Bernard's to ignore and thereby tacitly condone the substantiation of ongoing, continuous, and unethical abuses of power by fraternal white males for sexual gratification, because vicariously living through football is more important to the fraternal order than vicariously living through Christ."
