Brandey Wheeler is Arcata Main Street's new executive director

The Board of Directors of Arcata  Main Street is pleased to announce that it has appointed Brandey Wheeler as the organization's new Executive Director, effective October 10, 2022.  

She joins Arcata Main Street with over 9 years of experience in event planning and fundraising in the non-profit sector, four years of which include facilitation and coordination of employment programming and events, designed to bridge the gap between local businesses in need of workforce-ready applicants and community members out of the workforce, in an effort to garner forward-moving and solution-focused economic development. 

With her innovative and efficacious disposition, Brandey is a leader that will assist the Board as it works to unite the local community, improving and enriching all aspects of Arcata’s downtown and central district for business owners, community members, and tourists alike.

A resident for five years, after having moved cross-country 3000 miles, Brandey calls Humboldt County her home and is passionate about giving back to this community. 

She has served in many different capacities as a volunteer and considers herself a fierce advocate for marginalized communities. Drawing upon this experience, she aims to build collaborative, effective relationships between businesses, community members, and visitors, resulting in a healthier, more vibrant downtown district. 

Brandey resides near Arcata with her three children.  In her spare time she can be found out in the community, either in service to her fellow human, spending time with her amazing friends and partner, living the dream with her children, or making memes.  And she can sometimes be found doing all of those things at one time.
