On Oct. 2, 2022, at about 2:01 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the Garberville area attempted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
Deputies pursued the vehicle for over two miles. The pursuit came to an end in the area of 2400 block of Sprowel Creek Road when the suspect crashed the vehicle into a tree. The suspect, 34-year-old Brandon Michael Andrew Fink, was extracted from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. While in custody, Fink was uncooperative and continued to physically resist law enforcement and emergency personnel.
Fink was later booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of flight from a traffic officer (VC 2800.1(a)), battery on an emergency responder (PC 243(b)), resisting a peace officer (PC 148(a)(1)), driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(a)), failure to stop at a stop sign (VC 22450(a)) and failure to yield to emergency personnel (VC 21806(a))
