While most of EPD and HCSO responds to incident, off duty officers cover the rest of Eureka

 


On May 29, late morning there was an incident near Cousins street which resulted in several officers from  Eureka Police Department responding with Humboldt County Sheriff assisting.  EPD Chief Todd Jarvis, EPD Captain Brian Stephens, HCSO Lt. Greg Allen, SWAT and Crisis Negotiator were on scene. HCSO Bearcat was brought in later. Off duty officers from EPD had to return to work.  EPD had their hands full with other incidents all over Eureka.

Initial unconfirmed reports from neighbors, citizens were that a man with a firearm was holding a woman hostage in an apartment building. None of this has has been confirmed by law enforcement.

Nazy Javid from North Coast News was on scene. 

The latest update from Nazy  was one person brought out and ambulance left scene.

RHBB was the first to post on the incident and was also on scene. RHBB's latest update states the hostage was free and suspect was in custody but were waiting on confirmation from law enforcement.
