Demetrius Coleman jury has a verdict

 


Demetrius Coleman jury has reached a verdict. It will be read in about 15 minutes in Courtroom 3.

The complaint was amended yet again and due to no access to court records, I didn't have the latest complaint before it was read on record today. 

Count 1 murder and two allegations. Coleman was found guilty of Count 1, first degree murder. Special allegations for Count 1;  PC 12022.53 (d) intentional discharge of a firearm and second special allegation is PC 190.2(a) (21) murder was intentional and perpetrated by means of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle were found true.

Time was waived for sentencing which is scheduled for January 7 at 8:30 in Courtroom 4.

Coleman was  originally  charged with murder and special allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm which caused great bodily injury or death to Johnny Renfro.

In the first amended complaint, there are additional special allegations. Count 1 PC 187 murder. First special allegation is PC 12022.53 (d) intentional discharge of a firearm; second special allegation is PC 190.2(a) (21) murder was intentional and perpetrated by means of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, ; third special allegation is PC 667 (b) (1) prior conviction of a serious and violent felony; fourth special allegation is PC 667 (b) (1) and fifth special allegation is PC 667 (a) (1).

Coleman has a prior conviction from Minnesota and a prior conviction from Butte County that is listed in the complaint.
