Convicted human trafficker's preliminary hearing rescheduled because he wants to be personally present

Preliminary hearing was scheduled for convicted human trafficker David Anderson on June 8. He wanted to be personally present. The hearing was rescheduled for time certain on June 11.

This is the second time Anderson is charged with human trafficking. He also has a parole revocation case.

Charges for today's preliminary hearing include human trafficking, forcible rape, sodomy and forcible oral copulation. The special allegations allege Anderson administered a controlled substance to the victims who were minors at that time.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for the case. Mr. Michael Acosta is Anderson's attorney.

Time estimate is two and a half hours. This will be a live preliminary. That means one or more alleged victims will testify. California Prop 15 allows an investigative officer with appropriate training to testify at the preliminary hearing about statements from the alleged victim(s) This is an exception to hearsay rule.

I was the only one to cover all of Anderson's previous jury trials and eventual plea for his first conviction for human trafficking in Humboldt while the case
was going through the process in the local courts.
