"We have a larger outbreak in Fresno but you all are stricter here."

Tourists may officially have been allowed in Humboldt this weekend  but they have been around for at least a couple of months.

I ventured beyond my regular route this weekend. I noticed many people without facial coverings. Several people were here from other parts of California. Others were local.

I had conversation with few. I overheard a few comments. These people were from Fresno and Sacramento.

The people from Sacramento said," no one is wearing masks" in Sacramento. The woman from Fresno told an employee, "We have a larger outbreak in Fresno but you all are stricter here."

People will wear facial coverings where required in Humboldt but they will only put it on at the very last minute. There is no physical distancing. This is whether they are tourists or locals.

In one instance, while I waited at the appropriate distance to place a takeout order and had my face mask on, an angry young man without any face covering walked right by me glaring instead of following the appropriate distance and arrows. I dont know if he had a facial covering on while ordering. He definitely was not physically distancing. The anger could be because he had been hitting on the employee for 10 minutes and I so "inconveniently" wanted breakfast and coffee at 7 a.m. The funny thing is I hadn't said anything.

At Target, three young women, were annoyed some of us weren't rushing to self checkout before the employee wiped the kiosk. They could be 18 or barely in their 20s. They walked past me in a huff after I told them to chill.

Maybe they should direct their anger at the Target employee their age, now getting paid $15 an hour and possibly the bonus, complaining about how she had to work because "those damn Republicans need to shop" or show compassion for an over worked employee having to sanitize for their protection.

Whether they state it or not, more people than you realize are fed up of the shelter in place order and are only wearing facial coverings because one is required to enter businesses, buildings and restaurants. I do wear it out of respect for others, even though I think it makes no difference.

And the reason I feel this way is because no one is enforcing this order, there are loopholes and while businesses are being penalized; individuals do what they want. No one required face coverings or physical distancing early on  because no one was aware that COVID 19 was already circulating in California and the U.S. The addicts and bums are pissing, defecating and hacking after smoking cheap weed or sticking a needle in their arm.

It should be a misdemeanor to smoke cheap weed in Humboldt. You could at least smoke better quality weed. Others health is also harmed by several inconsiderate weed and cigarette smokers and the perpetual drunks and addicts and long before COVID 19.

Mandates, guidances are useless when selectively applied. More people stopped following the  rules after the local protests and seeing that some law enforcement aren't wearing any facial coverings. This was said to me specifically regarding the local protests.

People are depressed, angry, isolated, can't even  access medical care unless it is the ER or hospital. The government department heads, elected officials, California justices and officials in California and the U.S. are fearful, couldn't care less the financial ruin and mental toll on citizens while collecting a paycheck from taxpayers and going about their lives.

Shutter the courts, limit who can be in jail, attack law enforcement, isolate working and law abiding citizens and further harm the 99 per cent financially. Who benefits?

Both the Republican and Democrats are a joke. They cannot even keep citizens safe from looting, mayhem and riots. Why trust them about COVID 19?
