911 call will not be played on You Tube until it is edited to redact minor victim's names

The second day of Pamela Millsap's preliminary hearing continued with EPD Det. Corrie Watson on the stand being cross examined.

The 911 call was not broadcast as planned, yet. The DA discovered Jane Doe and John Doe's names are on the call, objected to it being broadcast on You Tube. Defense will edit 15 secs of audio and Judge Kaleb Cockrum will review complete call in camera. There will be a motion to continue so not known yet if the hearing will conclude today.

Doesnt look like it because defense has not even put on their witness, including EPD Officer Young Porambo and Ms. Timm will have redirect for Det. Watson.

At 2:37 p.m. we are on break because Judge Cockrum is reviewing law regarding evidence about previous alleged non specific threats by John Doe.

Defense has not been able to impeach Det. Watson.

Not a whole lot of new information during cross so far but there have been some new details. John Doe's toxicology screen was negative for substances, other than the alcohol and marijuana mentioned during Det. Watson's direct testimony. Millsap's blood tested negative for alcohol and other substances.

Other new information during cross was that Jane Doe told Det. Watson that Millsap had the gun in her hand with the barrel pointed down. Ms. Van Dyke mentioned a statement from the 911 call with Millsap yelling, "The safety was on but the gun went off."
Det. Watson responded, "yes."

There have been objections back and forth about what Ms. Van Dyke is trying to elicit and and the DA has prevailed in most objections.

The defense had one win getting in information about alleged threats and acts John Doe made towards family members.

After we returned from break, there has been testimony about John Doe, some specific acts towards Millsap and her boyfriend. Most physical altercations were with Millsap's boyfriend, Alexander B. The night of the incident, he told Millsap to call the police on John Doe that was part of the argument between Millsap and John Doe. Liam, John Doe's best friend, described Alexander B as "an asshole."

Six months prior, John Doe slapped Millsap on the face. John Doe was placed on probation after an incident where he slammed the trash can on his grandmother, Roxanne Wade's hand, hit her in the face and said he would stab her eyes out The incident was described by Millsap's boyfriend, Alexander B.

Millsap didn't like 46 year old Christopher David Morgan aka "Dave" hanging out with John Doe because of the age difference and because he gave John Doe marijuana.

3:48: After the afternoon court break, Judge Cockrum addressed scheduling. Preliminary continues tomorrow, however there may need to be a brief break for a previously scheduled matter in Courtroom 1. EPD Officer Porambo can testify via Zoom. At this point, it is uncertain if this preliminary will conclude tomorrow. Defense plans to intoduce CAST interview but not in video for confidentiality. Judge Cockrum gave instructions regarding names of minors being redacted.

Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is Millsap's attorney.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for the case.

This case highlights what life is in Humboldt for many. This case and many others  show what EPD, CWS, law enforcement deal with daily and how court cases bring out the reality of poverty, drugs, alcohol and other dysfunction in Humboldt  many locals, the politicians and the  1 % who profit from the corruption and denial have gotten away with for decades.

In addition to John Doe's death, this case is a tragedy in many ways.
