Damien Carlson was arraigned this afternoon on his most recent booking for battery on a custodial officer and probation violation. Bail for this case is $25,000. Dressed in a red jumpsuit means he is in admin segregation, cuffed and shackled.
Time was not waived. OR/bail hearing waived without prejudice. Preliminary is on June 24.
Carlson responded to the two bailiffs escorting him and Judge Christopher Wilson with a "I am a bad ass" attitude and short answers.
I think he is mistaking the jail conferencing room and video court appearance as a local reality show. Humboldt Courts should just keep Zoom for the future. Courts could raise revenue because the local criminals do provide enough material and it would pay for the 99 per cent of frequent offenders that can't pay any of the fees and fines.
Wesley Starritt was arraigned first for his recent booking of of battery on a custodial officer, resisting arrest and probation violation. Bail was set at$35,000. Criminal proceedings are suspended for all his cases.
Both are Public Defender clients. Deputy Public Defender Jessica Bennett was in court for her office. Deputy District Attorney Jane Mackie was present for the People.
