"I am declaring a conflict"

(Acosta)

(Carroll)

Setting of preliminary hearing and confirmation of discovery was scheduled for local attorney Michael Acosta and Sarah Carroll's case. It was continued to July 2 for confirmation of counsel.

Mr. Acosta is representing himself. He stated his objection on record

As  I reported on June 23, Carroll made the choice not to have Mr. Russ Clanton as her attorney. Today, in court, Mr. Clanton said, "I am declaring a conflict."

As expected, a new private attorney has to be appointed for Carroll. The clerk needs to contact administration. While Judge Lawrence Killoran is recused from the case, it was scheduled to set dates and ended up being continued.

Deputy District Attorney Jane Mackie was present for the People.
