Around 5:30 took a walk after an exhausting day, a small break to support a local restaurant only to have this woman who wanders all over town with her sunken face, ranting gibberish, banging on fences, the wall screaming at random people walking by and then disappears into the bushes while I take this photo. Right near the area where Wesley Starritt stabbed a random woman.

An hour later, some bum pissing and shooting up on private property cusses me out. The fourth person today who is drunk or high, cant hold a job or help themselves but can spew filth because I or anyone else wants peace and rest after a long day of work.

Eureka City Council isn't going to do anything because they could care less about the safety of citizens. Property owners that can't be bothered to secure the premises, clean graffitti or care about needles, piss and feces because they get away with it in Eureka and Humboldt. You can own a house or 60 plus properties that look like crap and are rotting that you mostly rent to County or some subsidized housing and pretend you are someone in society but the fact is you are are a typical low life local slumlord who contributes to crime and the decline in Eureka. You have no class or ability to make money and you have made it harder for decent local landlords because they suffer from laws passed neccessary to protect from predators like you.

This progressive City Council has not taken on these slumlords and sleazy property management companies anymore than the previous good ole boy Council. Touting low income housing funding during a pandemic where more people are on the verge of losing a roof is a nice bandaid and PR.

Eureka is resilient. The difference is those who are resilient have been surviving and fighting for those who just sit by the sidelines and are part of the problem they complain about constantly and do nothing.

EPD is swamped and they do an incredible job despite the challenges and laws.

Real courage was Rosa Parks or the brave souls of the Stonewall riots; not a bunch of misguided idiots who who want to defund the police and encourage lawlessness and scream without listening. Social media junkies who don't want to engage in productive, legal ways to change the system or take on the establishment; just yell cookie cutter slogans that do nothing to improve the situation.
