Jury trial for Patrick Mctigue rescheduled for November

Trial confirmation was scheduled this morning for former Humboldt County Building and Planner Patrick McTigue.

The jury trial scheduled for July 13 was vacated. Judge Christopher Wilson said, "obviously it is not going to proceed." This is due to the coronavirus pandemic related rules and impact.

Deputy DA Steven Steward is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is representing McTigue.

Mr. Russo asked dates be reset. Mr. Steward agreed.
Mr. Steward, who recently took over the case, wants to meet with Mr. Russo to make sure defense has all the discovery. Mr. Steward just received some additional subpoenaed documents.

Trial confirmation is on October 9; jury trial on November 2. McTigue has waived time and is out of custody.

Even though a 977 waiver of personal appearance is on file, at the last hearing, Judge Kaleb Cockrum ordered McTigue to be present, if neccessary by phone. However, McTigue was not present today. Mr. Russo appeared for him 977.
