Judge Kreis has atleast one challenger, no one so far running against Judge Killoran

(Kreis)

Today is the deadline for filing signatures in lieu for candidates for the March 5, 2024 primary.

As I reported more than once previously, former Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke has filed her declaration of candidacy today and paid the fee.

In my last post, I had updated that the male candidate planning to run for one of the two Humboldt Superior Court judge positions decided not to run in this election. Of all the potential candidates for judge I spoke with, no one was planning to run against Judge Lawrence Killoran.

If you read my blog regularly, I don't need to explain the many reasons that Judge Gregory Kreis needs to be voted out. In addition to the many posts on this blog, just google him.

Today, I spoke with Humboldt Elections Administrative Analyst Czyz Wojciech and he confirmed, again today, that Judge Killoran and Judge Kreis filed their Declaration of Intent and paid for their filing fees.

"As far as the other candidates are concerned, Gordon Clatworthy, Michelle Bushnell, and Mike Wilson have all submitted 501s for Supervisor of Districts 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Clatworthy, Bushnell, and Rex Bohn have all filed their Form 410 Statement of Organization with the Secretary of State, of which we’ve received copies," said Wojciech. "For Assemblymember, Margarita Fedorova has filed her 501 and for U.S. Representative, Jolian Kangas has filed his signatures  in Lieu."

I just did a post on November 3 which included filings for HCDCC members. Clatworthy maybe submitting additional signatures. Wojciech said Clatworthy seems to have enough signatures to qualify.

U.S. Representative Jared Huffman challenger Jason Brisendine is going to pay the filing fee and pick up the paperwork for nomination signatures on November 13. The other challenger is Jolian Kanges and when I spoke to him again recently, Kanges said he was going to file signatures in lieu.

I checked at the end of the day today with elections and again on the morning of 11/9/23 regarding judicial candidates. Judge Killoran is running unopposed. Ms. Van Dyke is the only challenger to Judge Kreis.
