Both incumbents for Humboldt Superior Court Judge positions have filed paperwork, Jim Wood has a challenger, another candidate against Rex and HCDCC candidates are on top of the paperwork

(Kreis)

(Killoran)

The March 5, 2024 presidential primary election has generated interest with more new candidates stepping up to run against entrenched incumbents in a few races.

In my last post on the two positions for Humboldt Superior Court Judge, I mentioned at least one or two candidates may file last minute. One is a male candidate. These potential candidates are in addition to former Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke who took out papers for signatures in lieu. She has until November 8 to file that form or pay the fee.

Both incumbents, Judge Lawrence Killoran and Judge Gregory Kreis, have paid the filing fee and filed their declaration for candidacy.

11/6 update: The male candidate told me he decided not to run this time and why. Ms. Van Dyke will be filing her declaration of candidacy on Wednesday, November 8. I have already requested a statement from her and will be doing a separate post.

Gordon Clatworthy, challenger to First District Supervisor Rex Bohn, turned in his signatures in lieu to the elections office. There maybe someone else throwing their hat in the race. Stay tuned.

Margarita Fedorova is a 22  year old Arcata resident and she has filed paperwork to run against Assemblymember Jim Wood for California's second  District.

Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee candidates who have filed paperwork include many incumbents. Names and districts provided by elections.

HCDCC 1st District:

Stuart Altschuler, Allison Edrington, Gregory Mario Fernandez, Helene Rouvier, Sarah Brooks and Christina Huff.

2nd District:

Christine Will

3rd District:

Rita Carlson, Geoffrey Robinson and Kimberly White

4th District:

Victor Garcia, Pamela Service and Robert Service

5th District:

Danielle Burkhart and Paul Hilton

Some people just came in today. Others may wait until November 8 or the last minute for other deadlines which I have included in previous coverage.
