Conflict Counsel to move, again? This time into building co-owned by Larry Doss

(515 J Street)

Contrary to staff report, 515 J Street did not recently become available. Fidelity left at least a year ago. It could be longer. Eureka Payments rented the upstairs space and they vacated that location, at least two years ago. 515 J is right next to the Ming Tree Office located at 509 J street. Both buildings are co-owned by Larry Doss and Jon Stone. Obviously no one else was leasing the space. Pays to be friends with Rex and have certain connections.

Larry is a nice guy but he and his co-owner are a part of the good ole boys and gals Humboldt network. Larry choses who he associates with and the connections that work for him and his business. People may not like each other privately but business is all about access and networking within the same small group whose oppressive grip on Humboldt is the reason it is stagnant, desolate and a financial blackhole. Money and power acquired by dirty sleath, backhanded tactics by people whose success is built by preying on others. Rex endorsed Larry when he ran for 5th District Supervisor. I told Larry then that association would cost him and be detrimental in his campaign.

The location is ideal but the good ole boys and gals who rent space from Doss and Stone at the Ming Tree office won't be thrilled with Conflict Counsel clients. Are gossipy Kim Brown or petty and vindictive Mike Jones and others who have office space at Ming Tree whining about sharing the parking lot with "those people?" Government and state money is fine with the good ole boys and gals as long as they are raking it in but they have no issue looking down on others who actually work for a living and survive despite the entrenched and useless Humboldt cabal.

Conflict Counsel was supposed to move into anothet space to have the office be in compliance with ADA. I reported on that development in 2021. Did that property owner not remodel as agreed?

Staff brings up ADA compliance again as the reason to approve this lease. This building at 515 J street is not ADA compliant. Not aware of a ramp or elevator in that building.

According to the staff report, the total cost of the 515 J street move is unknown. This item will be rubber stamped just as the million dollars for the County created emergency and taxpayers bailout of the Humboldt Fairgrounds.

Most of the other local media is clueless about  connections, doesn't know or too lazy to investigate what properties, who owns it and these convenient deals that staff recommends. Anons or Rex sycophant comments  on other sites saying how much Rex or Larry do for the community and the same bs and theater in  public comment where the usual people will conveniently show up praising this deal is bs most people see through. With a salary of $100,000 plus to schmooze at events  conferences, hang out with friends and funders , anyone can call County staff and git er done Rex, Ryan and those who use that one phrase repeatedly.
