Throwing out Rob Arkley, Rex Bohn and John Fullerton's name is easy, Gordon private texts are convenient, say the same in public

Rex Bohn's challenger, Gordon Clatworthy, has this post today on his website. In the past, I listed it and only once because it was a post about his website. I have not included it in any other post. I also did not include the portion of this Veterans Day post where Gordon is soliciting donations because this is not an ad for Gordon. You can google his website.

This Veterans Day post is a perfect example of the issues in my earlier post about Gordon being the only challenger to Rex. Convenient sound bytes, no actual substance and using Veterans Day to talk about himself. I have read Gordon's housing solutions on his website. It is vague and many of those ideas are already currently in place. Gordon does not address how he will address the corruption, funds being used for salaries instead of housing more individials and how petty, small town politics are used by decade old non profits, entrenched government bureaucrats and "housing resources" who pick and chose who to help. I have spoken with Gordon privately. My opinion of him changed as the red flags grew. I addressed them with him repeatedly and he continues the same Brett Watson like behavior.

Private texts and emails mean nothing. Say the same in public Gordon. Trust, credibility and transparency matter. The elections office has yet to confirm you as a candidate, yet you are  wasting time sending self promoting statements to media or wondering why some local media won't give you coverage. If your goal is to annoy people before you even qualify as a candidate, you have succeeded. Unfortunately for those who want a different option in the First District, you are showing Rex, he has no reason to worry about his re-election.

Gordon Clatworthy statement:

On this Veterans Day, I extend a heartfelt message to the residents of Humboldt County, underscoring the purpose behind my candidacy and outlining my vision for the future. Hailing from a military family, with my grandfather, Walter Murray, having served in the Army during World War II and my mother in the Navy, coupled with family members in the Air Force and Marines, I bring a deep-rooted commitment to public service.

Having traversed various corners of the United States, I consider myself fortunate to call Humboldt County home. Upon my first encounter with the county, I made a personal commitment to establish roots here. Serving in the Coast Guard brought me to this community, and I have remained steadfast in my connection.

Yet, the housing situation in the county remains a pressing issue. It took my family nearly three months to secure a residence, and utilizing the VA loan program, it took an additional two years to find an affordable and structurally sound property that met inspection standards. I acknowledge my good fortune in this regard, contrasting sharply with the experiences of fellow service members who faced dire living conditions, residing in sheds or unsafe environments while stationed here.

The prolonged housing crisis demands urgent attention, but regrettably, my opponent and their associates, including John Fullerton (treasurer for Rex Bohn) and part-time resident Rob Arkley, obstruct progress that would benefit the people of Humboldt County. The impediments to housing development, supported by this alliance, impose costs on the city of Eureka and burden the county's residents.

California, with nearly a third of the nation's homeless veterans, requires a concerted effort to address this issue. Constructing low-income housing stands out as a viable solution, as stable housing is imperative for veterans seeking treatment through the VA healthcare system. This is particularly crucial for the administration of medications to address both mental and physical health concerns as a permanent address is needed by the VA to ship medications from San Francisco, our local VA pharmacy. I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of providing housing opportunities to veterans, paving the way for a life beyond the streets.

The housing crisis extends beyond veterans, affecting individuals, families, and students, all of whom can find themselves homeless due to the scarcity of affordable housing. The situation could be alleviated if there were an adequate supply of such housing. However, my opponent, Rex Bohn, appears more focused on personal pursuits and auctions than collaborating with fellow supervisors to devise comprehensive solutions to the housing crisis.

This is the driving force behind my decision to run against Rex Bohn in the 1st district race. Drawing from my experience in government service, I am confident that solutions exist if we commit to finding them. To address the fiscal deficit of the county and the pressing need for housing without burdening taxpayers, I have outlined detailed plans available on my website.
