United Indian Health Services (UIHS) has completed a three-year process to receive continuing accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
"We're incredibly pleased to be recognized for meeting the high standards of care set by AAAHC," said Liz Lara-O'Rourke, CEO of UHS.
"Not only is AAAHC certification a long, detailed process, but the extensive self assessment and in-house surveys let us take a critical look at our organization," said Lara-O'Rourke.
Accreditation separates UIHS from many other outpatient facilities through its adherence to rigorous standards of care and safety. More than 6,100 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are currently accredited by AAAHC. The three-year, or 1,095-day, period between accreditations allowed UIHS to develop habits and procedures that will lead to improved care and services for clients.
UIHS has served the tribal communities in the region for 51 years, with seven locations serving over 13,000 patients across Humboldt and Del Norte counties, including the new Eureka facility being planned in Eureka.
