In convicted sex offender David Dues trial today, two witnesses testified about his fetish. Closing arguments are expected to start tomorrow.
Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughin and Ms. Kylie Boyd are representing Dues. Judge Christopher Wilson is presiding over the trial.
In my February 17 post on the trial, Ms. Boyd asked Fortuna Police Detective Brian Taylor if her client was under the influence of meth.
There are studies such as one conducted by John Hopkins that meth increases impatient and risky sexual behavior. Other studies show that chronic users of stimulant drugs causes some users to engage in compulsive, hypersexual behaviors.
On that day, People's witness, Jennifer Young testified about an incident in which Dues allegedly humped her foot with his penis.
Today, defense expert, Sam Hughes testified for the defense as a BDSM/Kink/Fetish expert. Hughes is a BDSM/Kink/Fetish doctoral student from UC Santa Cruz.
Berry Klein, another defense witness is Dues stepfather. Klein is not biologically related to Dues but he was involved in raising Dues since he was a few months old. Klein testified today about his observations of Dues' fetish for feet and shoes which started in his early teens.
