Thanks to a vigilant community member and EPD, two dogs were saved and this frequent flyer was arrested for animal cruelty

Eureka Police Department arrested Loren Michael Lenhart yesterday for PC 597 (a), animal cruelty. Lenhart posted bail and is out of custody.

I just received this email from Jennifer. I am not printing her last name for privacy. She did not request that but it is for safety.

"Good morning! Hoping you can put this individual on blast on your blogspot. Yesterday a co-worker of mine came in to work in tears and shaking. She had just witnessed a heinous crime of an individual severely beating a dog and then stuffing it in the trunk of their car."

"Luckily she videoed the entire incident. Law enforcement was called but unfortunately when they arrived the individual in question was in his home with another dog that looked perfectly fine. And with no cause to open the trunk of the car they had no way of knowing that the animal was in there. Being the activist that my coworker is she went down to epd in person and showed them the video. This was a game changer. They were able to go to the individual's work and arrest them on animal cruelty. "

"The poor dog was still locked in the trunk of the car. They took it to the vet for medical attention. They also took the other dog that was remaining in the home. I do not know the outcome of this poor doggy but at least last night it was safe. Assuming that it even lived through this torturous act. The individual repeatedly drug and punch the dog and then stuffed it in the trunk. In looking at this morning's bookings I was not surprised to learn that the individual was Loren Lenhart. A frequent flyer in our criminal justice system."

"How I would love to see this person put on blast for this heinous activity that they committed. Beating a dog with your fists to the point of near death and then stuffing it in your trunk to let it die. What kind of human being does that? None of this information is here say as I walked through this whole incident with my coworker since she was so frazzled and rattled. Saw the video. I wanted to throw up watching it. Somebody needs to do to him what he did to that dog. Just my opinion! Thank you for all you do in the community. Jennifer"
