Austin Charles Newman was arrested by UPD (HSU police) on an arrest warrant for PC 451 (d), arson of property of another. This is a felony charge and he was released on O.R.
I contacted UPD Chief Peter Cress. He told me,"The underlying crime was not campus-related. He was just contacted and arrested on campus."
The arrest warrant for Newman is from 2020. Court records list a Eureka address for Newman. There are no dates listed on this case.
