Rex, if you are going to diss "Media", get your own facts straight

Rex's comment about "Media" is in the comments regarding his Facebook post today.

I did not write about any airport rent increase. All local media did not write about it; the only article I found was an opinion on Kym's site.

In Rex's own comment, he says "it's fixed" and "terms are coming soon". Clearly the public was not aware anything was fixed. Maybe you and the County PIO could work on your messaging?

I don't disagree with you Rex because not all media is accurate; just don't make blanket statements. And don't make inaccurate statements. Be man enough to call out the media you are dissing specifically and to their face.

After I published this post, a reader said UPS planes use Murray field and asked if the rent increase was related to the County trying to generate more revenue.

So now we know what Rex thinks about "Media." I know the rest of the local media and their owners/publishers are too scared to say anything, as usual. They look at Rex's page.

Blaming the media is the tactic and playbook of failed politicians who cry fake news instead of dealing with their failures and people seeing through them. Anger at media these days is fueled by politicians who think they are entitled to their position and try and distract voters calling them out for benefitting just themselves and their cronies.

I once asked Ryan Sundberg, "Can I trust you?" He said, "I am a politician." Some of the best advice he gave me. Anyone who believes a politician, I got a bridge to sell you.

You and many other locals have no problem with "Media" when it benefits you. Many people, especially in Humboldt, think "accuracy" is saying what they want to hear. That is not news; that is PR.

Public relations is being paid to write what the client wants. Real media reports the facts, even if it pisses people off.  Independent media is targeted by two faced, back stabbers, ungrateful people who can't deal with the truth and profit from misinformation.

And if this pisses you off Rex or anyone else, look in the mirror. Think about how you treat people and whether loyalty, gratitude and decency is a characteristic any of you possess.

The two biggest groups who despise truth and the public having information are politicians and their funders who profit from them being in office. Now that is not a blanket statement; that is a fact.

Independent press has always had a challenge but the free press in this country has been in danger and continues to dwindle because of both political parties and the money that keeps the status quo in place.

If politicians and their funders who have money believed in a free press, we wouldnt have networks and corporations destroying local newspapers, local tv stations and independent reporting.

In a free press, a few local "media" wouldn't be getting the bulk of the advertising bucks just because they don't piss off the "Humboldt connected".   Real media don't chum around stroking the egos of Supervisors, Councilmembers, their buddies, the fraternal groups and what church people frequenthat week or month or year to promote their business.
