Are closing arguments necessary if defendant admitted guilt on the stand?

Closing arguments are scheduled to start any minute in the Delano Malang jury trial. The incident took place near the Arcata Plaza.

Based on the testimony, I think Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm's closing should be, " The defendant admitted biting the Sgt. and that he did resist being arrested. " The end.

I don't think rebuttal is necessary with video evidence, body cam, officers testimony but it should simply be" you heard the defendant's own words and he admitted he was guilty.

Will the reasons Malang stated he resisted arrest convince any jurors?

I realize closing arguments are necessary and a part of the legal process.  Let's see how long deliberations take and if there is a verdict.
