Foot pursuit in Blue Lake ends in arrest for domestic violence


On Feb. 4, 2022, at about 7:47 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of First Avenue in Blue Lake for the report of a domestic disturbance.

Deputies responded to the area and learned that the suspect, 30-year-old Fletcher Christian McCovey, was hiding somewhere outside the residence. Deputies located McCovey in the area of Railroad Avenue and Shamrock Lane. McCovey fled from deputies and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

McCovey was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse (PC 273.5(a)), damage/destroying a wireless communication device (PC 591.5), robbery (PC 211), resisting a peace officer (PC 148(a)(1)) and child endangerment (PC 273A(b)).
