Melissa Renee Johnson Sanchez was arrested on November 8. She is scheduled to be arraigned some time this afternoon. An arrest warrant was ordered for her on 10/29/21. The same complaint is filed in the system in her case and the case for her co-defendant, convicted sex offender Von Keener. He is wanted for parole violation. The complaint was filed in his case on 10/27/21 with a declaration for an arrest warrant on 10/28/21.
Update after hearing: Ms. Andrea Sullivan made an appearance on behalf of Johnson Sanchez. Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for the case. He is currently in trial so Deputy DA Jane Mackie appeared on the case for arraignment.
OR/bail for Johnson Sanchez is on November 12 and preliminary hearing is on November 22. Bail was set at $25,000 by Judge Wilson.
Around 6 p.m. today Fortuna Police Department arrested Von Keener. He has the same charge as Johnson Sanchez in the most recent case but he will have a parole hold so Keener cannot bail out unless a Judge makes a different ruling.

On Wednesday at about 11 a.m., detectives from the Fortuna Police Department located 47-year-old Von Eric Keener of Fortuna.
Mr. Keener, who was wanted by police on outstanding warrants, was located and taken into custody in the Loleta area.
Von Eric Keener had two active felony warrants for his arrest charging him as an accessory in a homicide investigation. Keener was also arrested for a violation/revocation of parole.
Keener was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked without incident.
11/12: Sanchez posted bail. Ms. Sullivan was relieved. Ms. Kathleen Bryson retained.
Keener is in custody and hopefully will stay there until the conclusion of his cases. He has fled twice. Mr. Joe Judge represents Keener. OR and supervised release denied for Keener. Bail is $25,000.
11:/15: At pre trial. Preliminary hearing for both Sanchez and Keener scheduledfor 11/23 was vacated and reset for 12/14/21.
