County employee paper checks won't clear for days, County agreed to pay fines

For those of you Humboldt privileged, including the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, who have no idea what it is to live paycheck to paycheck or have to deal with the anxiety caused by banks and their ridiculous rules ; the fallout of several county employees not getting paid on Friday continues. 

Even those County employees who got paper checks late Friday evening or Saturday morning have problems to deal with and these issues will have a longer impact. Banks have cut hours since the pandemic. Many are not open on weekends. Car payments and other payments were due on Friday. Many banks, including U.S. Bank (the bank that issues the County paycheck) hold checks for several days. Employees who picked up checks on Saturday won't have their checks cleared until Wednesday. 

I heard the County agreed to pay any fines. Is this coming out of Rex' Bohn's paycheck or Karen Paz Dominguez's paycheck? Nope. County employees contribute to the local economy and the local impact will be felt by more than just the employees.

COVID wiped out savings account for people who prepared for a rainy day, CA EDD is a disaster, rental assistance money has been gobbled up by greedy slumlords who politicians and the courts enable. None of this is the fault of those of us who suffered, scrapped, worked hard; only to have blow after blow because useless politicians, government and the billionaires who fund them want more money and power.

While you sit and stuff your faces with turkey and all the trimmings and drink expensive booze on Thursday, while you have been out living it up, as usual, since Friday with no worries; people had no money for basics like food and gas and the ability to feed their families and themselves. All you department heads, Board of Supervisors and your selfish funders and psychophants couldn't handle a day of what the average person in Humboldt goes through. 

If the Board is interested in transparency, I made an offer in yesterday's post. I already spoke with Nazy. You won't take me up on it because you don't want to be accountable. There is a lot more to this Auditor Controller story that the other local media will not investigate and there are always two sides to a story. 

And if you do take me up on my offer, don't pull the last minute notice trick. News and life, unlike you, happens 24/7 and not all of us are guaranteed a government paycheck like you. You get two paid holidays this upcoming week. Most of us don't have that luxury to take that time off.
